Senior Attorney John Manly specializes in the defense of childhood sexual abuse victims. Boasting 15 years of experience with the clergy abuse crisis in the Catholic Church, John Manly and his associates secured some of the most impressive civil awards for their clients. In just the past few years, John Manly was one of the team of attorneys who fought for and won nearly $1 billion in settlements for hundreds of victims in the state of California alone. These accomplishments earned John Manly recognition as one of California’s Top 100 Attorneys by the Los Angeles Daily Journal, a Super Lawyer by Thompson Reuters, and one of the region’s Most Buzzworthy Attorneys by Orange Coast Magazine. Additionally, John Manly provided representation to hundreds of Alaska Native victims in a multi-million dollar settlement against the Jesuit Order. John Manly works with clients in South Dakota, New York, and Delaware as well.

In 2005, John Manly appeared in the film Deliver Us from Evil, which depicts his contribution to the prosecution of Oliver O’Grady and other church officials involved in sexual abuse. The film, created written and directed by Amy Berg, received an Academy Award nomination in 2007 for Best Documentary. In addition to the documentary, the LA Times, Huffington Post, The Stranger, and National Public Radio have produced features about John Manly.

After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California, John Manly attended the Pepperdine University School of Law. Upon earning his Juris Doctor, John Manly moved to Washington, D.C. where he served the General Counsel of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission through his position as Law Clerk. Additionally, John Manly served as an Intelligence Office in the United States Naval Reserve.
